Fresno Education leader Dr. Peter G. Mehas Endorses Jeff Denham for Congress
FRESNO, CA -- Dr. Peter G. Mehas, one of the most respected community and
educational leaders in Fresno County, today endorsed Jeff Deham for Congress
in the 19th district Republican primary.
"I endorse Jeff Denham for Congress because our young people need to see
that we elect leaders who they can look up to and who have the
personal and professional ethics to make them proud," said Dr. Mehas.
"Jeff also has a passion for improving our schools and opening up
educational opportunities for the children of the Central Valley. I intend
to work hard to help him win this election."
Jeff Denham is a valley almond grower, businessman and state senator running
in the 19th congressional district where current Congressman George
Radanovich is retiring. Radanovich is also supporting Denham.
Dr. Mehas was elected Fresno County Superintendent of Schools in 1990 and
was easily re-elected for a second term in 1994. In 1998 and 2002 he ran
unopposed for his third and fourth terms. He has served as a top education
advisor to Republican Presidents and Governors, including George Bush,
George W. Bush, George Deukmejian and Pete Wilson.
